Evelin Martinez

Client Care Specialist

Early Years: Off to a sunny start

Evelin was born in Mexico. She, her parents, and two siblings moved to the U.S. when she was only eight-years-old. They chose Maryland's beautiful Prince Georges County as home - and the rest is history! A student at Bladensburg High School, Evelin graduated in 2002 and off she went she went into the big, wide, wonderful world.

What we know about Evelin: Love & Career

Car troubles? Evelyn may be able to lead you in the right direction. She worked at Darcars Chrysler Jeep Dodge for seven years as a service advisor, so she's definitely got a little Yin to go with that Yang. From there, Evelin became a customer service rep for State Farm Insurance, where she remained for six years. Today, she's part of the EBS team and the resident go-to when we need a fluent Spanish speaker. Her proudest moment is when she recently became a mother. "I love my daughter so much!" she proclaims. And the feeling is mutual.

Megan Mummert

Client Care Specialist

Early Years: One, Big, Happy Family

Born and raised in Maryland, Megan moved to Carroll County when she was just six years old. She was the eldest of two girls, but her family quickly grew after her parents divorced and re-married. Two stepbrothers, three stepsisters and an additional little half-brother later, they became the "Almost Brady Bunch." She played soccer, basketball, and even tried her pom-poms at cheerleading, but ditched them for Karate, which she had started at age 12. She earned her Black Belt at 16.

What We Know: She's a Care Bear

Megan majored in Adolescent Psychology at University Maryland College Park for one semester before transferring to Carroll Community College, where she intended to pursue a nursing degree in Pediatric Oncology. "I kept getting waitlisted, so to get my foot in the medical field, I decided to start at Medix Towson to become a Certified Medical Assistant and Certified Phlebotomist," she explains. She began her clinical career working for a Cardiology/Internal Medicine practice before moving on to Podiatry and Surgery. Luckily for us, her career path changed when she moved to billing and collections for Maxim Healthcare, where she was voted Employee of the Year for 2016. Today, she is a proud EBS-er!

Sam Wheeless

Benefit Consultant

Early years: Down on the farm

Born and raised in Maryland, Sam has lived in Baltimore and Monkton, where she grew up on a horse farm. Ah, the days of swimming and horseback riding! Don't fool yourself, though. The two sports take a lot of discipline and commitment, which Sam put to good use during her Business Management studies at Loyola University. As if that wasn't enough of a workload, this go-getter also seamlessly juggled college life and earning her BAA with work as a manager at a Mexican restaurant! ĦAy, caramba!

What we know about Sam: Her interests get interesting!

Prior to joining EBS, Sam was an account manager at The Warner Companies. She is an animal lover who volunteers at Baltimore County Animal Services. Sam loves memoirs (especially those written by David Sedaris). Not enough for you? She also makes a mean veal marsala! Sam enjoys cooking, trying out new restaurants, hiking and going to Spin class. Her love of high heels sends her tall frame into the clouds! Just don't talk to her before she's had her morning diet coke - Sam is so not a morning person!

Candice Slowik

Director of Culture & Communication

Early years

Candice grew up near Solomons Island in Southern MD -- which makes her "crabby" in a good way. "Not much to do but go to the beach or take boat rides," she reports. She thought it was totally boring growing up. "Now I have a whole new appreciation for my hometown. It's beautiful and I would love to have access to a beach 24/7 again!" She attended Patuxent High School and Towson University, where she majored in Business and Corporate Communication Studies and Creative Writing.

What we know about Candice

Three cheers!

As a former cheerleader, Candice remains an enthusiastic team member. She broke into the industry as an intern at Armada Consulting, then joined Sun Life Financial right out of college. Before joining EBS, Candice worked for Silberstein Insurance Group as their Marketing Manager. Candice has two sisters and a brother (two in the industry!) -- just don't mention that her little sister graduated a few seconds before she did or you might ruffle her pom poms.
