Amanda Hastings

Client Manager

The Early Years: Never-Ending Summer

Amanda grew up in Syracuse, New York with her little brother, Logan. They're closer than most siblings after spending their entire childhood together, and Amanda considers Logan one of her best friends. Summer is Amanda's favorite season, and the pair would fill their days with sports or swim together at the community pool. But like most older siblings, Amanda soon left for college, ready to pursue her next adventure.

What we know about Amanda: Putting Down Roots

After graduating from Ithaca College with a degree in Television-Radio and Digital Marketing, Amanda felt the job market in Upstate New York looked slim. She applied to jobs up and down the East Coast before landing a position in Baltimore. Even though she only had one friend in the area, she packed up, moved, and never looked back. Since then, she's built a network of friends, started a family with her husband, Brandon, and their daughter, Palmer, and joined our team at EBS!

Lucia Fan

Benefit Consultant

Early Years: Crabsolutely clawsome.

Lucia was born in Hong Kong as the youngest of six. With four sisters and a brother, they were a close-knit family. So much so, Lucia's older sister and her future husband took the three younger sisters on some of their dates, embarking on many fun adventures together. Lucia's family also loves to vacation and eat crabs. When they get started eating crabs, the meal could literally take half a day!

What we know about Lucia:

A cultural connoisseur.

While attending school at University of Maryland College Park, Lucia studied speech communication and business. Since graduating, she's furthered her career while traveling the globe to places like Sweden, Italy and Suriname, and she's hoping to visit Taiwan and Australia. Lucia enjoys discovering other cultures, trying new restaurants, and cooking different cuisines at home. She says our fun vibe and culture brought her to EBS, and we're glad it did.

Four Peas in a Pod: I have four sons. During one of my pregnancies, I didn't know I was carrying twins until I had an ultrasound at 20 weeks. I only gained seven pounds, and the twins were five-and-a-half pounds each!

Better Than Music! I have recorded a few podcasts and YouTube videos.

Candice Slowik

Director of Culture & Communication

Early years

Candice grew up near Solomons Island in Southern MD -- which makes her "crabby" in a good way. "Not much to do but go to the beach or take boat rides," she reports. She thought it was totally boring growing up. "Now I have a whole new appreciation for my hometown. It's beautiful and I would love to have access to a beach 24/7 again!" She attended Patuxent High School and Towson University, where she majored in Business and Corporate Communication Studies and Creative Writing.

What we know about Candice

Three cheers!

As a former cheerleader, Candice remains an enthusiastic team member. She broke into the industry as an intern at Armada Consulting, then joined Sun Life Financial right out of college. Before joining EBS, Candice worked for Silberstein Insurance Group as their Marketing Manager. Candice has two sisters and a brother (two in the industry!).

Fun Facts

She's a DARE Bear. I was in an anti-drug commercial for DARE when I was a kid that played on our local channels until I was in high school (I sang and participated in a VERY cheesy dance)... I pray all time that someone somewhere has finally destroyed any evidence of this!

She's inspired by sweets. I replicated van Gogh's "Starry Night" in icing for my sister's birthday using a slew of cupcakes and Thin Mint cookies.
